Cat5e 8-Channel A/B Switch with SNMP, SysLog Capability, and NTP Connectivity
Cat5e 8-Channel A/B Switch with SNMP, SysLog Capability, and NTP Connectivity
January 7, 2020
Electro Standards Laboratories has designed the Model 7820 RJ45 Cat5e A/B Switch with Ethernet Remote Control and Enhanced Password Security. The Model 7820 is IP Addressable and utilizes Telnet Commands or GUI interface to allow users to remotely control the switch position, lockout front panel operations and obtain switch status. Using SNMP V2 with password protection supports up to 8 different usernames for user-level access, with a single admin acccount to manage them all via the Telnet Interface or the Graphical User Interface. Enhanced password security imposes a 13 character minimum length password, forcing at least 1 numeric character and 1 special character. Remote Control actions logged by sending time stamped events to a remote SysLog server. User enters internet address of a SysLog and an NTP server to assign time stamp events.
Each of the eight channels allows access to two RJ45 Cat5e networks or devices via A and B ports connected to a common. All eight pins of the RJ45 interface are switched via break-before-make electromechanical relays. Simultaneous control of all channels can be locally controlled by simply pushing the button located on the front of the unit or remotely control via Telnet or GUI.
The Model 7820 is enclosed in a 1U, full rack size, all metal black box designed to provide EMI/RFI shielding and fit in a standard 19" rack.
