For Immediate Release

Model 6256 3-Channel SC Duplex Fiber Optic A/B/Offline Switch

Electro Standards Laboratories (ESL), Cranston, RI, has just announced its new QuickSwitch Model 6256 tri-channel SC duplex fiber optic A/B/Offline Switch with Contact Closure Remote control. This versatile Model 6256 switch shares a single port interface device connected to the COMMON port access to the A and B ports for each of its three channels.

The Model 6256 can be switched to its Offline position and totally isolate connection to the A and B ports. The QuickSwitch 6256 fits in a standard 19” rack, taking only 1U of rack space. The switch dimensions are 19” W x 1.75” H x 10” D (48.3 x 4.9 x 25.4 cm). The unit weights 5.5 lbs. (2.5 kg). Six front panel LED’s display switch position and power status.

MEMS-based mirror/prism switch technology supports Gigabit data rates. The unit is service protocol, bit-rate and data transparent. All fiber optic ports are SC Duplex, Multimode, 50/125 micron, and support a wavelength of 850nm. Internal circuitry insures isolation between networks/devices.

This easy-to-use switch can be controlled via front-panel pushbuttons or remotely via a DB9 female connector on the rear panel that accepts contact closure switch commands for remote control operation. The Model 6256 offers individual control of each channel. All fiber ports are SC duplex, multimode 50/125 micron and support a wavelength of 850nm.

When power is lost, the Model 6256 will revert to the Offline position and stop passing data. When power is restored, the all channels will remain in the Offline position until commanded to change. The Offline switch position stops any and all data throughput for the switch.

An optional CE, RoHS and UL listed Wide Range Power Supply is available. This power supply, Catalog No. 517277, is approved for 100VAC/240VAC, 50Hz/60Hz and features an IEC 60320 C14 inlet. The Model 6256 A/B/Offline switch paired with the Wide Range Power Supply is ideal for worldwide network applications.
