M4195 Fiber to RJ45 A/B Switch/Converter Provides Automatic Fiber Optic Link Backup!
June 2, 2009
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Electro Standards Laboratories, Cranston, RI, announces the new QuickSwitch® Model 4195 Fiber SC Duplex to RJ45 Auto Fallback A/B Switch/Converter. This versatile Fiber Switch allows the capability of accessing two separate SC Duplex, Multimode, 100 Base FX ports (A and B) from a 100 Base TX Fast Ethernet port (Common port). The fiber optic / twisted pair copper conversion is built right in and the unit is fully compliant with the 802.3u 100 Base TX/FX standard.
This Fiber Optic Switch / Converter does it all. When in A/B Switch Mode, simply press the front panel pushbutton to switch position manually or switch remotely by sending serial data switch commands to the RS232/DB9 remote port. In Auto Fallback Mode, the unit automatically selects its switch position based on the presence or absence of SD (Send Data) on fiber optic port A. If SD is absent, the unit will automatically switch to port B and once SD on port A has returned, the switch will return to the A position. What a great solution for conversion and fallback applications!
