M6285 Remote Control MEMS-Based Gigabyte Multimode Fiber Optic Mirror Switch/Converter

Electro Standards Laboratories (ESL), Cranston, RI, has just announced its new QuickSwitch® Model 6285 Gigabyte Fiber Optic SC Duplex A/B Switch/Converter with Remote Control. The Model 6285 fiber optic switch was designed utilizing MEMS-based (Micro Electro Mechanical System) multi-mode mirror technology and high-speed fiber optic/copper 1000-Base-T converter electronics. The Model 6285 fiber optic switch enables a device connected to the 1000-Base-T RJ45 COMMON port to access either of two separate Fiber Optic networks via SC duplex ports.
The QuickSwitch® Model 6285 Fiber Optic Network Switch is controlled manually via a front panel pushbutton or remotely from a Remote RS-232 serial port located on the rear panel. Computer control is accomplished by connecting the Remote RS-232 serial port to a standard RS-232 computer port and using any common terminal emulation software. Front-panel LEDs or the remote RS-232 serial port can be used to determine switch position.
