Manual or Remote Switching Between Two USB Devices with the Model 4502 USB Type-A A/B Switch
September 2, 2010
PathWay® Model 4502 USB Type-A A/B Switch with Remote Control serves much needed functions: switches between two USB devices without having to disconnect cables; shares a USB device between 2 PC's; connects a computer to multiple USB devices.
The PathWay® Model 4502 USB Type-A A/B Switch with Remote Control allows the user the capability of accessing two USB Type-A interface devices connected to the A and B ports via one USB Type-A interface device connected to the COMMON port. The switch may be controlled manually via the front panel pushbutton or remotely from an RS232 serial port located on the rear of the unit. Switch position status may be attained via the front panel LED display or the REMOTE port located on the rear of the unit.
The PathWay® Model 4502 switches all 4 pins of the USB interface. The switch is transparent to data speed and format. Local control is via a front-panel pushbutton. The Remote port accepts RS232 Serial Data ASCII commands for switch position control and monitoring. The front-panel pushbutton control can be locked out remotely. The Model 4502 retains the last switch position in the event of a power loss and continues to pass data. This switch is housed in an attractive anodized black box that provides EMI/RFI shielding.
