Press Release

Model 4148 Self-Configuring Normal/Redundant Fallback Switch

Electro Standards Laboratories, Cranston, RI, announces its new Model 4148 Self-Configuring Normal/Redundant Fallback Switch. This switch allows data signals entering the switch from two origination devices to be channeled to two destination devices and automatically accommodates for signal loss.

During Normal mode, the origin devices connected to ports D1 and D2 are channelled to ports COM1 and COM1 respectively. If the RTS signal is lost from the device connected to D1, the Model 4148 changes to Redundant Fallback mode and automatically broadcasts the data from the D2 device to both destination devices, COM1 and COM2. Likewise, if the RTS signal is lost from the device connected to D2, the Model 4148 sends the data from the D1 device to both destination devices. If RTS recovers on both ports, the default connection configuration (D1>COM1 and D2>COM2) is restored.

The Model 4148 can also be controlled manually via a front-panel pushbutton. In addition to Normal Mode and the Redundant Fallback modes, the user can manually select a Crossover position, in which D2 is connected to COM1, and D1 to COM2. Four front panel LEDs indicate the connectivity status and verify power connection at all times.  For further details, click here: http://www.electrostandards.com/ProductDetail/?productid=248
