Electro Standards Laboratories (ESL), Cranston, RI, has just announced its new QuickSwitchÒ Model 6190 Fiber Optic A/B Switch, ST Duplex, Dual Wavelength with Remote Serial Control and optional GUI. The Model 6190 allows the user the capability of accessing two separate devices, ports A & B, via connection through a device connected to the Common port of the switch.
Local control is via front-panel pushbutton. Remote access is via RS-232 commands sent via the Remote Serial Port or by optional Graphical User Interface. Users can remotely monitor status, control switch functions, lock front panel use and query status. Front panel LED's display the current switch position and power status.
The QuickSwitch® 6190 employs Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) based multimode switches. The data network switch uses mirror technology, is transparent to data, and supports gigabit data rates. The switch supports multimode, 50/125 micron fiber with wavelengths of 850nm and 1300 nm. If power to the unit is lost, the switch will revert to the A position and continue to pass data. The graphical user interface option, Cat No 520306, features easy to use, simple point and click operation.
