Electro Standards Laboratories (ESL), Cranston, RI, Electro Standards has just announced its Model 4187 QuickSwitch® fiber optic switch to access either of two separate fiber optic 100BaseFX ports from a 100Base FX COMMON port. This fiber optic switch is fully compliant with the 802.3u 100BaseFX standard. All ports are 1300nm, ST Duplex, Multimode, 100BaseFX fiber optic ports.
The switch position can be controlled manually via a front panel pushbutton. Remote switching is accomplished through the unit’s RS-232 (DB-9) serial port connection to any standard RS-232 computer port . Any common terminal emulation software can be used. Switch position is displayed on front-panel LEDs or on the computer terminal via the remote port. In the event of a power failure, the Model 4187 fiber optic switch will return to the last ordered position when the power is restored.
