July 1, 2011
For Immediate Release
Electro Standards Laboratories, Cranston, RI, has added Versalink Plastic Optical Fiber patch cords to its network cable product line. Applications for Versalink POF cables include industrial data links for factory automation, intra-system links (board-to-board, rack-to-rack), telecommunications switching systems, medical instruments, high-voltage isolation and gaming terminal networks.
The cables feature Vesatile Link connectors that support rapid installations for any application utilizing the Avago Technologies Versatile Link transceivers. The cable assemblies can be ordered with simplex or duplex cable featuring either latching or non-latching connectors.
The simplex cables are constructed with a single step-index plastic optical fiber while the duplex cables are constructed with two step-index plastic optical fiber. All cabling is sheathed in a black polyethylene jacket. The patch cord is manufactured with 1mm diameter plastic optical fiber. The fiber cable and connections are UL-rated and the connector terminations are crimped and epoxied for maximum retention.
